Enviro UK Consultants are currently helping businesses in the North East be “Waste Smart”, save money and comply with waste management legislation through the successful delivery of environmental and waste management training.

A recent government consultation response on enhanced enforcement powers and other measures to tackle waste crime and entrenched poor performance in the waste management industry aims to address the problems within the waste management sector one of which is identified as poor education and awareness.

Respondents to the consultation document agreed there is a need to better inform landowners of the potential liabilities associated with having waste operations on their land. The consultation which ended on 9th October also called on industry to take the lead in promoting greater awareness amongst landowners and landlords of their potential obligations. Sharon Lashley, the Director of Enviro UK Consultants, is a registered trainer for the “Waste Smart” training course which is an industry backed training course developed by the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) and Sharon has recently successfully trained a number of chemical companies including Johnson Matthey and Dow Chemical in the Waste Smart Advanced qualification.

“The Waste Smart Advanced course was a very informative one which covered a variety of topics and scenarios. There was a lot of discussion, which helped me understand waste within my own business environment. I also gained a deeper insight into waste disposal along with understanding the necessary requirements of a waste transfer note and being legally compliant. I am positive this will help our company move forward in the future. All Johnson Matthey delegates successfully passed this training course.”

– Lisa Marshall, Johnson Matthey

Enviro UK Consultants are delighted to be providing Waste Smart training in the North East and nationally. It’s incredibly important for organisations and businesses to be sure that employees are aware of the legal obligations, hidden costs and the environmental impacts of sending waste to landfill. More importantly though it’s also our responsibility as trainers to reach out to as many businesses as possible across the whole waste management sector including collection sites and ensure that the our Waste Smart courses educate organisations on their Duty of Care and Waste Management Principles.

“I can thoroughly recommend the training delivered by Enviro UK recently at our top tier COMAH site. The one day Advanced Waste Smart course was delivered to a cross section of employees with varying experience of waste. The training was very well received, with many attendees commenting on the trainer Sharon’s ability to get all the required knowledge across in an easy to understand and enjoyable way – all attendees successfully passed the course.”

– Michael Armstrong, Dow Chemical
